Dreams for the Sleepless

Leap day, what an odd thing to have. I’m sure it doesn’t anger mathematicians so greatly, seeing as they know the reality is that extra quarter of a day, but the lack of symmetry is odd considering the need for people to just have things in even increments. Consider this, on 3 out of 4 other years, today would be March 1st. And you would go outside, and say “Boy, it’s already pretty warm/still pretty cold for March.” Not today. Today, it’s still February. At least it makes more sense than daylight savings time.

It begs the question, if we can agree to these things as a country, or a planet, why can’t we delegate for other temporal changes? Metric time was a bust, which leads me to think that the current setup, despite its odd multiples-of-6 fetish really just accomplishes the job so well, and if it ain’t broke…

For me, today is the typical end of the month grind, reprioritizing my daily task list, pushing out invoices, et cetera. I actually can’t believe it’s March already, but then life really does have a way of getting past you if you don’t stop to look around once in a while. Today just isn’t going to be the day for that.
