Birds of Parade Eyes

The collection of shadowy figures gathered in a conspicuous location: a collection of trees growing in the middle of urban progress. Nobody was looking there now just like they hardly ever looked anytime else. The park only drew the kinds of people who lived in a city out of necessity, whether jobs or convenience or cost of living. The kinds who would rather re-route away from danger than call it in or confront it. The menacing menagerie convened at this particular park was enough to scare off the night joggers and the underpaid security guards, and so they were able to meet in silence. They took turns swapping information silently, staring up at lit skyscraper windows with a point of a finger; this office building, that penthouse, those apartments. After ten minutes as a menacing flock, these crows dispersed throughout the city, determined to see it work. It was their actions that really made everything run on time. Everything else was an illusion.
