More discarded

Whiteness.  Nothing but whiteness.  The empty void filled with only the seeming patternless behavior of fast falling snow. Snow accompanied only by the sound of a wave, endlessly rolling against the shore but never crashing.  An apocalyptic bleakness that had carried on silently for months, that suddenly, without mercy or explanation, came to a jarring halt.  Specks of red, green, and blue light ceased to flutter and aligned into beams of light.  The noise had gone too, replaced with a faint but irritable buzzing sound.  The endless blizzard had vanished, leaving no trace of its presence.  All that remained were pillars of colored light, red, white, yellow, and green to name a few, and that damned buzzing.  Then there was a voice.

“Holy shit, are we on?”

“That’s us.  We’re on.”

“Test 1, test 1, what’s with that buzzing?”

“Some kind of feedback bleeding onto the frequency, probably a HAM radio or something.”

“This is incredible, I can’t believe it’s really working!  Well, now what?”  The second voice then sighed loudly and hummed.

“Well, do you have any kind of manifesto to disseminate?  Any relevant Scripture?  Some high school secret you’ve ever wanted to tell the whole city?”
