It wants to rain. Outside, that is. Inside, we want it to rain. California’s running dry and here in the desert, weather weather weather. Thing is, California is kind of in a desert too, but it’s a desert filled with deep pockets, and so Connecticut money wants California winters, and they’re willing to spend the cash and dip into the resource pool to get their lawns, their trees, their lavish greenery. It wasn’t meant to be that way. Part of appreciating where you go is taking the good with the bad. Do I miss trees? Kind of. Do I miss violent rainy thunderstorms? Absolutely. Though the rain here is more punishing and the lightning at least more frequent (if you look for it). But I live here now. I have beautiful mountains, I have a greater appreciation for the single tiny tree instead of the flat expanding woods because shade is at a premium. So just own where you are. Celebrate the land, don’t take the flag with you.
