You ever sit and watch the sun? Not when it’s doing something particularly noteworthy, not as it boisterously sneaks into the room all blue and pink, not as it noisily makes an exit, burning everything in red as it leaves, but just as it does what the sun is doing all the time, only maybe at 1PM, or maybe do you look down at where the sun ought to be when it’s thirty minutes to midnight? Somewhere, most everywhere down there, people are wiping the sweat off their brows, looking up as you look at them from underneath, their heads craning off in an angle you had maybe not previously considered until now. And if you could see what they could see right now, would it change your perspective? Probably not. The issue is that no matter where you go, the sun does the same things. So you can never fully appreciate the sun being bright and shiny when everyone you know and love is fast asleep.
