I’m a Government, Man

Three kinds of people in this world, some people are fond of saying. Or two. Or ten. or 6 billion. The human race is one that’s rather fond of categorization, of lumping objects into clusters or groups based on similar traits, whether or not they have things in common. It helps to get a point across. Did you know that the richest people in the world and the poorest have the same number of fingers, bones, organs, et cetera? Two eyes, two ears, a nose, a mouth. All of these things are true. And then you can also say that the richest people live in New York, in California, in Dubai and Shanghai, but there are the struggling and the homeless in all of these places as well. The reality isn’t in the sameness, it’s in the cross section, the menagerie of differences instead of the spattering of similarities. You’re not as unique as you want to be, but there aren’t really any other people dealing with the same cocktail of bullshit or glitter that you wake up to every morning. So if you’re looking for specific help, get used to the generality and adapting it to your own needs.
