Cloudy days, rain, productivity, food, bills, work, feeling good. Roommate is currently laid up with some unwells, but I’m keeping an eye on him while he watches a movie and eats (hopefully) and I get some work done. It’s slow going, I got some delays and some distractions, but it’s okay, there’s not a whole not I need to get done this week, even if I got a 2-day late start, things are more or less taken care of. I’ve got 3 big stacks of big projects to work on, but they’ve got to wait until I take care of the smaller stuff like this thing that I’m doing right now. So like normal, you just take care of the short stuff, you finally get to handle the laundry that’s been piled up since the trip, and then eventually all that’s left are the big projects, things that I can pick at and whittle down over the course of the month. That’s the plan anyways.

So the vacation is over, and it was a lot of fun. It was also a pretty exhausting experience from start to finish and I can not hide from the fact that what I experienced as I sat down in this familiar office chair behind this familiar makeshift desk was nothing short of actual elation upon my return. Some things are different, and in some ways, home feels different, but not in a bad way. Just in a way that will take a couple of days to acclimate to and then all will be normal again. It doesn’t help that I came home to rain, when I was in an area where it seemed all but assured that rain would have happened. So it’ll be a day or two and then everything will feel normal again, I think. For now, it’s back to work, back to deadlines and schedules with some new plans as far as getting ample work done every day and also getting a bit of a sweat going.

Looking Back, Then Forward

So, as I said I would yesterday, I want to take a moment to reflect on May. Which, despite ultimately really having its ups and downs, hopefully is a foundation for success to come. May was an incredibly busy month for me, but also an extremely successful one, both in writing and in streaming. I had work coming at me in both avenues seemingly every couple of days, and I’ve had to pretty much focus all of my attention between the two in order to capitalize on both the good fortune and the strong support respectively. The streaming was so successful this month that I was able to scale my workload down to about 60% of what it normally is, and though that money is still a long time coming, I am hopeful that that kind of success will stay. If it doesn’t, that’s fine, I’ll ramp my workload back up to compensate, but I want to make sure that with that kind of success not to give it less than the full attention that it deserves. So that’s May. Not the best month, but a foundation for maybe a big step forward for me, and I’m hopeful that kind of positivity will continue.

Still staring up at a giant mountain of things to do, but feeling better about it. I’m going to try not to do TOO much and really figure out what kind of work I can take with me. I don’t anticipate having a lot of downtime to be productive, but certainly travel time accounts for idling and there will probably be moments before bed or in the morning where I can sit down and get an hour of reading in or stream planning just here and there, and then spend the rest of my day doing vacation stuff. Considering I usually put in between ten and fourteen hours of work in a day between writing and streaming, cutting that down to one or two, even if it’s not abstaining from work entirely it’ll certainly feel like a vacation. That being said, the next blog post will talk about how good May was and how it changed my plans going forward.

Playing From Behind

In a weird spot to start this week, as I have a lot to do work-wise, a lot to do stream-wise, and then also have to prepare for travel. Putting it all together, and really only having a half-week to get to them, means I’m in a time-crunch. I’ll likely spend most of today working, and cleaning, in order to get a sizable chunk taken out of my to-do list. But tomorrow I also need to make time for a shave and a haircut, and then packing. And then after all that, still need to stream and still have deadlines to meet throughout the week. I think I’m going to need some caffeine and to really just focus in and get as much done as possible before the clock runs out on me. And then when it does at least I’ll be pretty much forced into taking time off. And maybe I’ll come back and get some things done around the house right away. Who knows.

White Noise

Been slacking off on blogs lately, but then slacking isn’t the right term. As stated, I may be going on blog hiatus for a while to prioritize other things. As it stands, non-streaming related activities are down to part-time thanks to the success that I’ve had so far this month. Streams themselves are full-time and then some. It’s led to some tired days and/or nights, and so I think while I’m on vacation I need to think about my limits and what’s healthy and maybe even (gasp) implementing a schedule of some sort. But as it stands now, I’m just happy doing what I’m doing, making time for as many things as possible, and getting ready to spend a week away from the home. I’ll probably bring work along with me in the form of books or Patreon projects that need completing, but I don’t honestly anticipate having a wealth of time to work on those outside of maybe airport time.

Having a little interlude here while I try and figure out what to do with my night. A couple crazy nights this week have led me to the other side of midnight once again, but with ample time to straighten it out before the trip. I’ve got a lot of work to get done and have had some great successes this week, so rather than sit around twiddling my thumbs, I’m just diving deeper on some things that I need to do. Still way behind this month on a lot of things, but in terms of my main goals, it’s been a phenomenally successful month. Not sure how the balance is going to affect things, but already I’m beginning to think that I can start reprioritizing tasks in a way that’s going to be both more enjoyable and more efficient for me. Overall, feeling great, even if I just crammed down a burrito at 4AM and I need to be up in five hours.
